Sightseeing Cruise vs. Dinner Cruise: Which Should You Book?

Both cruises follow roughly the same stretch of river and pass most of the same landmarks — but they're built for very different visits.

A 1-hour round trip with multilingual audio commentary, departing every 30–45 minutes throughout the day and evening. No meal, no assigned seating in most cases — you're free to move around the deck for photos. It's the cheapest, most flexible option, and works well if you're short on time, traveling with kids, or just want to check the Seine off your list without committing an entire evening.

A 1.25–2.25 hour seated experience with a 3-course meal, live music, and a fixed departure time — usually one or two sittings per evening. It costs several times more than the sightseeing cruise, but it's designed to be the evening's main event rather than a quick stop, and it's the only version where the entire route happens after dark under full illumination.

Tight on time, traveling with young kids, or mainly want to see the landmarks from the water? Book the sightseeing cruise. Planning a special evening, celebrating an anniversary, or want a sit-down meal with a view instead of a restaurant? Book the dinner cruise. Many visitors do both on the same trip — a quick daytime sightseeing cruise to get oriented, and a dinner cruise on a later evening as the standout experience.
